Benefits for the Customers
GOOD NEWS! Going Solar in Washington is Now More Affordable and Cost Effective than Ever Before! Now is the perfect time to take advantage of a wide range of Washington State and Federal government incentive programs to offset your renewable energy system costs and make your solar electric or hot water system more affordable, cost effective and even more profitable than ever before!

Solar power allows your business to:

Control your energy costs
Reduce your electricity bills
Hedge against future utility rate hikes
Protect the environment

Now is a great time for your business to invest in solar power!

Your Solar Generated Revenue - The great news is that you get to harvest "all" of these solar benefits! You can expect to realize 18 to 28 cents/kWh for your solar generated electricity. Plus, for the electricity you generate your utility rates are permanently locked in for the entire life of your solar system. PSE customers have been seeing double digit annual rate hikes over the past couple of years.

No Washington State Sales Tax - There will be no state sales tax on the entire cost of your installed solar energy system. This applies to both solar hot water and solar electric systems.

5-Year Accelerated Depreciation for Home Based Businesses - Home based businesses qualify for a full 5-year MACRS accelerated depreciation tax deduction on the entire cost of the system.

Increased property value - Installing a solar electric or solar hot water system adds resale value to your property and makes it more attractive to prospective buyers.
Interested in saving money and helping the environment? Contact us to take advantage of these great cost saving solar incentives. The estimated increase in value is for every $1,000.00 of savings per year results in a $20,000.00 added value to your home or business.

The Process
Assessment
We begin our assessment by coming to your home and performing a solar analysis.  This consist of taking roof top images, or ground-mount, and evaluating if your home or business is a good candidate.  The main objective is to have an area that is south facing with minimal shade where the panels will be placed. West is our second choice if south is not an option.

Design
ASE Inc, will design your system specifically for your home.  We will analyze the roof to ensure there is enough integrity and life.  We like to make sure that a roof is no older than 10 years old.  If the roof is older than 10 years, then we recommend roof replacement prior to installation.  We advise this because it is costly to remove and replace the panels if the roof will need to be replaced in the 10 years or less.

There are many aspects to the design including the financial benefit.  We will supply a proposal that will include financial information, such as, estimated recovery time and return on investment.

Installation
The expert installers at ASE, Inc have both the requisite technical skills and successful project management experience to make certain that your installation goes smoothly. Typical installation on a 3 bedroom home takes approximately three to four days of actual onsite work.  Material delivery & permits issuance can take up to several weeks.

Permitting, Inspections and Incentives

ASE, Inc. makes your solar installation is as seamless and easy as possible for your home or business. We handle all of the state and federal incentive application paperwork, schedule all electrical and utility inspections and prepare all the paperwork for your utility and the state.

Longevity
Maintenance of your solar system is virtually non-existent.  The system does not have moving parts. It is simply a matter of keeping the PV panels free of excess dirt and debris. The majority of our weather can perform this simple rinse for us at no additional charge.  Our team is always available for maintenance with a simple request.

Solar Water Heaters

Let the Sun Heat Your Water nearly ALL THE TIME!!
For many business and residences heating water can be a very expensive expense.  Solar hot water is great alternative to supply your hot-water.

Not only is solar water heating a great way of staving off increasing energy costs, commercial systems are eligible for a 30% federal tax credit off of the total system cost, plus it will be eligible for a 5 year accelerated MACRS. Experts agree that a solar water heater is far and away the easiest initial investment in renewable energy.

How it Works
Solar collectors capture the heat from the light and transfer that heat to your water tank through copper coils via a glycol solution.  It is a closed system that continues to circulate during the day and turns off during the night to prevent heat loss.

Works on cloudy days and even when it is freezing outside
Solar heat collectors are far more sensitive than the typical photovoltaic panels and have the ability to gain the energy from the sun even in the midst of poor conditions. They do not need direct sunlight to function.

Types of Solar Hot Water Collectors
There are two popular kinds of solar water collectors, the traditional flat plate and the recently more common evacuated tube systems. Each technology has its strengths and weaknesses; this is why ASE Inc is one of the few solar contractors in the region that carries both technologies. Because we are not biased you will receive an honest appraisal of your site. Our engineering staff will design your system with the most cost effective solution, and then our installation team (with over 150 installed systems of experience) will install it on your building.

Flat-Plate Collectors
Flat-Plate collectors have been around the longest thus by default are the most popular.  These panels still have superior qualities and out-perform all other types of traditional heating processes.  Recently, the flat plate collectors have been challenged by the evacuated tube system that has migrated from Asia and Europe to the states over the past decade.

How Flat-Plate Collectors work
The plate collector is a thin metal box that is very well insulated.  An absorber plate inside gathers solar heat and transfers it to a network of copper tubing, through which the glycol fluids mixed with water surge. Like evacuated tubes, they do work well on cloudy days, but will have more heat losses during cold conditions due to insulation.

Evacuated Tube Collectors
Evacuated tube have become very popular over the course of a few years because of price decrease and their efficiency compared to flat-plate collectors.  Evacuated tubes, as stated above, streamed into the states from Asia and Europe.  The tube collectors are robust and designed for a long life between 15 to 20 years.

How Evacuated Tubes work
Each tube is evacuated meaning all of the air has been mechanically removed or "vacuumed".  This allows for the absorption of heat from the sun.  The twin walled glass tubing is lined with anti-reflective coatings to allow for maximum absorption and minimal heat loss.

The center of the tube has a narrow copper tube with a liquid that has a boiling point of approx 73 degrees F.  This allows for steam to be produced in cool winter days that heats the copper manifold in the header.

The mixed water and corn glycol solution flows through the header and down to a stand alone or auxiliary (pre-heater) hot water tank. The solution flows through a copper coil in the tank and transfers the heat to the water.  If you use the tank as a stand alone, then there is an electric back-up that will maintain the temperature set on the thermostat when needed.
